How we work

We want MascotitaKit to be useful and honest. Here's how we prepare our content and where its limits are.

How we prepare articles

We write simple explanations based on general recommendations from recognized veterinary and animal welfare organizations, such as the ASPCA, the AVMA or the Merck Veterinary Manual, and on good-practice guidelines. At the end of each article we include links to reference sources so you can dig deeper.

What we are not

Our articles and tools are not signed by a veterinarian and do not replace a consultation. The calculators give general estimates that may not apply to your pet. We always say when it's time to see the vet, and in an emergency you should call your clinic.

How the tools work

The tools use general formulas and data and run on your device. What you type isn't sent to our servers. Games, like the horoscope or the pet translator, are for entertainment only.

Updates and corrections

Each article shows the date it was last updated. If you find a mistake or outdated information, write to us from the contact page: we'll review it and fix it as soon as possible.

How we're funded

The site is free. It's supported by ads (Google AdSense) and Amazon affiliate links: if you buy a product through a link, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Ads and links don't change what we write or our health guidance.

Privacy

You don't need an account to use the site. Read the privacy policy and the cookie policy.
